How Many?

So now that Colt is two we are trying to teach him to show people "how many" he is.

He gets it, kind of.

He'll give you two fingers, just not on the same hand.

Brotherly Love

So Wyatt looks lovingly at Zane and says, "We are so lucky to have such a good baby."

He pauses and adds, "There's no other baby in the world like him."

Agreed. Mom thinks you're all pretty awesome.

Flight 214

So Joe and I thought we were pretty clear with his brothers, "No more big toys."

We said, "Only buy stuff that fits in a toy box, not the garage!"

So imagine our dismay when Jim announced that he'd purchased the boys a full sized, airplane shaped, jungle gym/see-saw.

He delivered it this weekend. Based on the boys reaction, Uncle Jim is forgiven.

The only debate now, who gets to be the pilot!

The New Pet

So Wyatt "Diego" the Animal Rescuer found a frog in the back yard.

He picked it up, carried it around and nearly cuddled it to death.

When the frog appears to be completely spent after hours of being squeezed and prodded, I say, "Maybe we should let the frog go home and see his Mommy."

Wyatt looks at me with sadness and says, "But I wanted him to come sleep in my bed tonight."

Uh, no.

The Gift

So Wyatt runs into the house after a day at school, yelling, "Mommy, Mommy, I brought you a present."

I say, "What is it?"

He opens his hands and beams, "Three rocks from the playground."

It's the thought that counts.

The Cape Conundrum

So there has been strife in our house for the past week.

The crisis: we have two pairs of Batman pajamas, only one cape.

There have been tears shed, sleep lost and a rift created between two crime fighting brothers.

Finally, unable to stand another night of sadness in the bat cave, the mom caved.

The second cape arrived from Amazon.com today.

There is peace in Gotham City, Batman.

The Heist

So now that I'm back to my early morning hours at work, I like to set out my clothes and accessories the previous evening.

Last night, I laid out a green and gold beaded necklace and matching earrings.

About an hour later I noticed the earrings were gone. I looked everywhere.

Finally, Wyatt (who was supposed to have been asleep) busted into my bedroom. I took a chance and said, "Wyatt, Mommy had a pair of earrings sitting here on the counter, have you seen them?" I really didn't expect an answer.

Instead, he says immediately and with a smile, "Yes, they are under my bed."

"Can you get them?" I ask.

So he scoots out of the room and shimmies under his bed. He comes out beaming, holding the earrings I'd just lost and two other pairs I'd been missing for weeks.

I apparently have a young cat burglar in the house.

A Lesson in Politeness

So Colt was being sweet and picked out a snack for Wyatt. When he handed it to him Wyatt threw it back and screamed, "No, I don't want this."

I said, "Wyatt, when someone is being nice and gives you something you don't want, you tell them 'No, thank you.'"

So he screams, "No, thank you" at Colt.

We discuss saying it nicely.

About an hour later Wyatt puts his new phrase to use.

I hear him tell a fussy Zane, "No, thank you, I don't want to hear crying."

Lesson learned.

Home Sweet Home

So we arrive at the beachfront property on Isle of Palms, where we are staying this week. Wyatt runs through the house, screeching with joy, checking out every room, and of course the balconies.

He finishes the tour and tells me, "Mom, this house is really nice. It's even nicer than our house."

Ya think?

Fore!

So Colt got an early birthday present from the grandparents, a set of golf clubs.

A young Tiger, he is not. But what he lacks in skill, he makes up for in gusto.

I expect him to be wearing a green jacket in 2035.
